Liam, Keith and Maxim (the Prodigy) are back to assert their punky, big-beat aura promising that the oft-delayed follow-up to 2004′s Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned will be in your hands by the end of 2008. They’ve been peppering their live shows over the past few years with unreleased tracks that may or may not be included on their fifth album but just a couple days ago at the Oxegen Festival in Ireland they performed “Worlds On Fire,” “Warriors Dance,” “Mescaline” and “First Warning,” a recording of which was recently included on the soundtrack to the movie Smokin’ Aces.
Of course, if you can’t wait for a new album then you can always sate your hunger with the re-releases of the first two albums, 1992′s Experience and ’94′s Songs For The Jilted Generation, remastered with more artwork, more remixes (full bonus discs of new material), more live performances, more rarities, more more more. Classic Prodigy that far surpassed their last release and judging by what has been heard of the new material..well, I’ll leave that for future reviews.
“Warriors Dance” – Birmingham’s Rainbow Warehouse – May 17th, 2008.
The re-releases drop on August 4th. The new material, which seems to be trying to recapture the glory of the Prodigy we all came to know and love well over a decade ago, will be released…eventually. Stay tuned.
