So before the evil Republicans move into town and threaten to erase our civil liberties along with all our fun there are some good times to be had. And hey, next week a number of bars will be open until 4am, so I guess there’s that bright side to the dark cloud making its way over our home.
Not all Evil is bad Evil. Tonight is a special night at First Avenue. Both the Mainroom and the Entry will be hosting the memorial tribute to Earl Root, who passed away this past May. The Memorial Metal Massacre features a great number of acts paying tribute to a local legend (if you missed our tribute to Earl it can be found HERE - please take the time to read it). Proceeds go toward helping Earl’s family with the mountain of bills incurred during his battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma. In addition to all the great live acts there will be plenty of merchandise from Earl’s Root Cellar Records business for sale. It promises to be a packed night at First Ave. It’s DTC’s event pick of the week. Doors open at 4:30pm.
And if that’s not enough Metal for you the Triple Rock welcomes Finnish Folk/Pagan Metal legends Finntroll on Sunday night along with Thrash revivalists Warbringer.
DJ Monstergott is spinning at Ground Zero for The Next Element tonight. If you don’t recall Monstergott he was the DJ for the shortlived Darksider night at that club in Anoka some time back. It was rather unfortunate to lose that night since Monstergott makes for a pretty impressive DJ with an ear for all the best new shit out there. He doesn’t DJ much anymore - why do the good ones refuse to cooperate?! - so you’re going to want to catch this rare performance should you opt against a night of Metal.
That’s the best I can do as far as Electro goes. You’ll just have to content yourself with the Metal until someone books an electronic show again. Sorry.
If I missed anything, feel free to comment.
