Lip Burns

October 29th, 2008 by Christopher

And so the saga of former Dead Or Alive frontman Pete Burns spins right ’round. Like a record, baby, right ’round ’round ’round. To the tune of 1.85 million dollars. Burns, 49, sued Harley Street doctor Maurizio Viel for botched lip enhancement injections carried out between 2000 and 2004. In addition to the onset of granulomas the singer also suffered from severe swelling of the mouth (no, even worse than what we’re accustomed to with Burns) and blistering that allegedly made it difficult, if not impossible, to talk (or sing, fortunately), eat or drink and forced him into seven months of seclusion out of disgust at how “physically repulsive” he looked. Apparently the argument that he already looked pretty repulsive to begin with didn’t fly with the court. One of the statements made to the High Court in London involved how Burns’ lips were so badly damaged it looked as though they had been “mutilated with a Stanley knife.” Also, according to Burns’ representatives, during the four year period a pro-collagen filler was repeatedly injected at the London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery without adequate testing for side-effects. Burns himself added, “It has taken away my life and my career. I saw doctors in London who said the only option was to amputate my lips. I was suicidal.”

The “disfigurement” must have subsided in time for him to play a role in Celebrity Big Brother two years ago. That stunt merely provided a blight to his career as opposed to his face.

Burns plans to continue taking out his frustration and still-raw emotional wounds by punishing the fans with another wretched solo album. I would suggest a duet with Michael Jackson. “Man In The Mirror” perhaps?

    It’s such a terrible, terrible tragedy…

…when someone who’s that stupid becomes that famous.

I mean, did he not go to the doctor for the express purpose of having unnaturally large lips? This seems like something that should be filed under “be careful what you wish for”, not a LAWSUIT.
