Now in EBM, it has seemingly become the new standard — to mimic playing live. It’s always fun to see pictures of bands playing live, and to notice that the keyboard is missing a power plug or an audio or midi cable (and of course there’s the infamous USB cable to nowhere).

But this is a development that’s really confused me, and maybe I’ll write more on performance and the history of electronic music.
