Often I find myself judging a band based on their website. This could be construed as a shallow perspective. In my mind websites in the modern era represent your “brand” and are a business card for a band. I can’t remember the last time I set foot into a music store. It’s safe to say that many people hear about a band by word of mouth, from surfing the web or by seeing a post on a major website. My taste in website design ranges from enjoying an artistic masterpiece as being impressive to being presented a nice utilitarian space that offers information quickly.
This website does a good job of being useful while not going overboard with stylized designs or useless information. It loads quickly, has streaming audio that works well and the sound quality on my machine is excellent. This to me speaks with a loud voice about the band. Their website is useful, innovative and not overdone. I have enjoyed the music so far yet what came across better is the presentation. The band (low distortion unit) even streams some work in progress tracks so that listeners can follow along as a piece progresses. That is a an excellent idea and has great potential to draw people back in to check on the website.
This artist has been featured in a video game, uses sampling appropriately and has a good feel. The website is simple and given the streaming audio tracks I would definitely go back to look for updates.
