At month’s end Jan Lehmkamper will be following up last year’s fantastic X-Fusion offering, Vast Abysm (review) with a new album under his other moniker, Noisuf-X. The title has been changed to Voodoo Ritual and is scheduled for release on February 27th through Pro-Noize.
While X-Fusion relies on a harsh Industrial/EBM vibe Noisuf-X forges its own technoid path with mere nods to the stomp and distortion of club Industrial while using samples instead of straight vocals. You can check out the Noisuf-X MySpace page for some samples from the latest release but they are only brief snippets which is always irritating.
Preordering Voodoo Ritual on the Noisuf-X/X-Fusion site will not only get you the actual CD but an authentic, honest-to-goodness, genuine, bona fide postcard! And the postcard will also be signed!!! Wow, for the 14.00 EUR price (just over eighteen US dollars) plus about six bucks in shipping from Germany that’s a helluva deal, dontcha think?
Or not. I just wish I could tell if it was a deal. Putting more than just snippets on the MySpace might have helped.
In any case, I’ve enjoyed all of Jan’s work from both incarnations and think he’s gradually grown better at what he does with every release so I can’t say I have any doubt this new effort will be anything less than pure quality. Add to it the fact that the guy puts everything into his work for little reward and does so out of love for the music and that is always undeniably evident in the execution. You should definitely check Voodoo Ritual out, along with all the other albums.

Heh… I’ve seemingly liked what he does, less and less. I really liked the first two x-fusion albums. But nothing since then has caught my attention (though I don’t think I’ve heard vast abysm).
I really enjoy hearing Noisuf-x at clubs, but when I’m sitting at home I find the lead-line loops irritating.

X-Fusion is awesome.
I want to bear X-Fusion’s children.
That is all.
