Lenny Bogatch is a curious character who comes across as enormously friendly and accommodating even as he weaves an ominous tapestry of Powernoise and droning, ambient Industrial that is arresting and intelligent. His debut album as Cenotype, Origins, was released on Hive Records and if you don’t own it you should definitely seek it out. Be sure to check out his MySpace page for samples of his layered, rhythmic fury.
He’s just put out a remix disc that’s one of the better efforts of its kind that I’ve heard. I’d get into it with you here but you can just as easily read our review for a full explanation. It features a wide range of artists from Caustic and C/A/T to Autoclav1.1, Tonikom and Iszoloscope. He’s doing all the work himself this time and the disc is limited to a mere 250 hand-numbered copies so if this sounds like something in which you would be interested you should act quickly as I’m sure it won’t take long for the supply to run dry.
Bogatch just participated in a festival in the Netherlands over the weekend. You can also catch him as DJ Wintermute if you happen to be in the New York area at any given time.
