In my interview with Mark Spybey he made mention of a collaboration with composer Richard Sanderson. You can now purchase a download of their music from the Lens Records website for a mere eight bucks. The Setland L.P. features nearly forty-five minutes of “lost” music.
Spybey and Sanderson have known each other for about forty years and this particular project originated back in ’92 before Spybey relocated from London to Canada (and this was also just before Download with Cevin Key). The material represents a No Wave aesthetic (New Wave stabbing Punk in the back with commercialized synth and No Wave following suit as the boot up the ass of the New Wave crowd – i.e. Sonic Youth, Swans, Big Black, etc.) and is now finally seeing the light of day for those that might be interested.
I think you might want to be interested in this one. It’s one of those forgotten treasures that was never meant to be but now suddenly just…happens to be. You can check out some too-brief soundclips at the link above as well as read up on the history of these songs.
