Collide are putting out a disc of covers on Halloween. Why? Who knows. I was never much a fan of the band. It’s not that I dislike them, I just always preferred similar acts like Curve, Medicine, Lulabox, etc. Their last album blew me away though, due in no small part to the production talents of Curve’s Dean Garcia. So I guess I’m eager to hear what they have in store this time out.

“These Eyes Before” is the title. Check out the tracklist:

1. Breathe (Pink Floyd)
This could be good with some solid guitar chops and kaRIN’s “breathy” vocals.
2. Nights In White Satin (The Moody Blues)
I’ve always hated this song. So I have no comment.
3. Come Together (The Beatles)
You can catch a little of this on the teaser. Like “Breathe” it could actually work if they don’t dumb down the composition too much.
4. Creep ( Radiohead)
Really? Of all the great Radiohead tracks you had to revisit this dated, self-loathing turd. Ugh.
5. Rock On (David Essex)
I really have no idea who David Essex is. I’m not English nor a fan of Pop Idol.
6. I Feel You (Depeche Mode)
Again, my first thought was, “Of all the DM songs you could pick, why…” but then I imagined kaRIN singing it. Might work.
7. Space Oddity (David Bowie)
This will probably be a disaster. Not sure how it could be anything more than that.
8. Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing (Chris Isaak)
Oh dear christ. Y’know, the guy recorded a bunch of other really great songs. Why is everyone so fixated on this one? It’s not even very good.
9. Tusk (Fleetwood Mac)
I always hated Fleetwood Mack like The Dude hates The Eagles.
10. Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
Eh. I’ll reserve judgment. But I fail to see what they can add or even bring to this song. Guess we’ll see.
