you. smoking a butt.
your lips curl in derision.
at the SHIM SHAM Club.

something attracts me
from across the street i watch
your ballet of style

Carnival speeds by
absinthe tells me to approach
i walk towards you

green glow lights my way
your anise scented lips touch
the fairy calls me

warmth embraces me
hallucination warns me
New Orleans wakes me

you may have said once
that i felt familiar
as you grabbed my hand

how does it feel then
to recall those things for you?
unborn memories

had my hand not felt
so familiar that i
named it for what was

a memory still
shaped my peripheral fall
i regret nothing

Post bellydancing haiku (haikus?)
it seems so easy
just lift your arm high like this
and just move your hips

it seems so easy
just keep up the same rythym
on your silver zills

it seems so easy
two hours straight of the dance
lift your head and smile

it seems so easy
just keep shimmying your hips
and keep up the beat

The challenge of the
rhyming haiku has begun!
Do you accept?

Do you think that he will float?
Inflatable coat.

Maybe this was a
bad idea. A haiku
that rhymes? Useless.

Too much vegetables
Not enough meat for my taste
This sandwich sucks ass.

Filled with cursed sprouts
Tomatoes and lettuce
Flung into the trash.

I would rather eat
a fresh steaming hot loaf of
my lettuce filled crap.

There, now I've done it
I am laughing far too loud
My crap is funny.

Ok, kids. I'm gonna tell you what a haiku is so you can stop making asses of yourselves. You know who you are. And if you don't, everyone else that took any kind of writing class in high school knows who you are.

There are 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and back to 5 in the third. Any other format isn't a haiku. Maybe we could start a pseudo-haiku thread for ya'll. Or maybe we could just hold ya down and beat ya until you can recite haiku without having to count out the syllables on your fingers. ;p

Um... Yea... there's a slight error with this: The actuall rule is 3 to 5 in the first line 5 to 7 in the second line and 3 to 5 in the third line, where the second line is always the longest. ...Serious Haiku should have everything tie into nature somehow. There are some Traditional Haiku from books I've read that are 3 - 6 - 3. The sylable thing is completely depicted upon region, as well as time period.
