A- I had an irritated bump on my inner thigh that got worse and worse until it was swolen and kinda grey
I was delivering food and it was summer, so my denim shorts kept irritating the area due to the repeated getting in and out of the car in the intense Texas heat
My friend thought it was a spider bite so he said he'd help me out by lancing it and cleaning it up (I was very poor and had no insurance so I went for it)
He worked at a very reputable body modification shop and I had known the owner for years so I trusted him
Not only that, but he was a spider collector
He cut it open and he squeezed a bunch of thick greygunk out of it
"Oh man!, you better go have a real doctor check this out after I'm done, this looks infected!"
He finished cleaning the wound up and noticed something
"There's a small sliver of something under your skin, are you sure you weren't on any wood materials like a park bench or something?"
I assured him that I had not
He said it was brown and had the texture of wood or metal
He took a probe and started examining it (kinda like an ice pick)
Every time he tried to remove it, there was a "tick" sound of the proble slipping after losing the grip on the object
This sent lightning bolts of pain up my leg
He couldn't get it out so he told me to get it examined
I barely had any money so I opted to go to Primacare because they had a sliding scale for poor people and did not intend on sitting in the emergency room of Parkland hospital for hours waiting for the gunshot patients to get taken care of first
The doctor at primacare asked me what was the matter and I told her the story
She examined the area and remarked "Well, the guy sure knew what he was doing because this is a very good job of cleaning the wound"
She asked about the "sliver" and examined the area further
"I have two things to tell you, first it was a spider bite and it was infected but this brown sliver is not a foreign object"
It turned out that it was, in fact, a small tendon just underneath the skin
The guy had been picking at one of my tendons!
Good thing he didn't cut it out like he wanted to
She was satisfied that the infection was not a threat, gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way
My friend was horrified when I told him what he was poking at but I assured him that I was the one who got up on the table and allowed him to do it so there was no hard feelings

I don't have a question so someone is free to answer the "worst pain" question and continue

A. Best time of my life? Well, I would have to say right now. Nothing is going right, but the adventure is just as exciting because I know something amazing is just around the corner.

Q. Do you believe in regret?

Q) Do you have a 'S/He is the One that got away' story?

Author:  drok [ Sun Aug 13, 2006 1:54 pm ]
Post subject:

two. but I tend to idealize the situations, and deal with the past through rose-colored glasses.

are you anyone else's 'one that got away'?

Author:  alisgray [ Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:34 am ]
Post subject:

uh, actually I could kind of say two, but I tend to idealize the situations, and deal with the past through lenses smeared with a combination of hubris and bitterness... I do have one very tenacious ex-boyfriend who has at one point moved to the town I went to college in, and is currently talking about moving here as well; it's nice to hear from him of course, but it makes me wonder. And anyway, he's still too young for me. To the other one I'm sure I must be the "one who got away" literally, because neither my bones nor my bank account was quite destroyed by the time I was able to leave.

How was the Gary Numan concert? I ended up with free tickets to a show at the Guthrie instead.

That's the chick who runs the FBI
That chick had a metal hand
As Debbie (mohawk chick) is licking the hand, she leaves her gum on the hand and King Archie says "Ashante" or however you spell that word (Frank n Furter says it to Janet when he kisses her hand)

When the punks come in Otto indruduces them as "Layla and her weird friend"

I just looked it up and the character's name was "Agent Rogersz"
The actor's name is Susan Barnes

Having worked in pawn for 8 years I sold plent of stereos to folks that were later ORDERED to remove them. About $200,000 per year in sales really helped the cops find idiots.
