Post Eurogoth?
Hey everyone...
I've been reading the site for a while, but post so infrequently that I have to re-register each time, so I seem newer than I am :(

Anyhow, does anyone know of any good clubs in Paris? I frequent Ground Zero on Saturdays, the occasional thursday, and the occasional Hard Monday...I mostly like to go to dance.

We will be traveling in europe, and found some promising leads in Rome, the other big city we will be in, but nothing really so far in Paris, and we want to go out on Saturday night...if anyone knows of a place, I would love to hear about it. (And, if you know of a kick-ass place in Rome, I am open to suggestions, we would be there midweek, and are going purely on what the internets have to say so far)

I always check this URL when traveling:

They're broken up by city/state, but there's a whole European section too.

Rome: (Wednesdays)
Rome: (Saturdays)

Paris: (1st Saturday of each month)
Paris: (2nd Saturday of each month)

Thanks rskm...

The one that's on Wednesdays is the one we are planning on going to in Rome. However, we are going to be in Paris only for the third Saturday of the Month. Rumour has it that the second club is open every Saturday, but since we haven't been able to get confirmation on that, we were hoping to have a clubs there are open to 4am-6am, so we will have lots of time to maybe check out more than one.

That site has been helpful to us on more than one occasion for anyone traveling, I recommend it as well.

Just in case you are in Rome on a Wednesday and are wondering....we went to the previously mentioned place. It was, um, interesting. You had to buzz to be let in. We weren't sure it was open, but someone let us in. We had to get membership cards. And it was really a pub. A really empty pub, with Wiccan decor. It just happened that the music they were playing was a variety of Goth/Medieval/etc. And there was no dancing.
It was clean, and the guy running it was nice, just not the scene we had in mind.

We did not get to club in paris due to me being very ill and horizontal on Saturday we will have to find out what their scene is another time.

Just in case anyone else was looking for a personal view on the scene in Rome...not that it's likely, but there it is...

thanks for the report, and I hope you're feeling better.

Several years ago I had the opportunity to go clubbing in Amsterdam. Those were the most positive-thinking goths I have ever seen; instead of insisting that "the scene is dead. you should have seen it five years ago." like everyone else everywhere else always does, they kept saying things like "this is the last good niight this club will ever see. next week it'll be shit."

Also, their gothy club scene did not overlap in any way with the bondage scene -- no doubt some people did both but not at the same time in the same place. Punk, ditto. Industrial, ditto. It was weird.

It took about 2/3 of the trip, but I did eventually feel better. Oddly, my throat seems to still be sensitive. Mostly, I was just mad that I missed out on a night on the town in a foreign land.

I like the thought of positive goths. I suppose "positive" and "goth" don't quite go together. So, maybe it should be more of a "our scene kicks the ass of any other scene." I guess that could be a more goth-friendly way to go about it. The whole no-overlap thing would be weird to me. I'm too eclectic...I need my variety all in one place. Though, I suppose that's what club hopping is for.

I enjoy hearing about/checking out "the scene" in other's nice to have another perspective.
