Post Dance my ass off on NYE
So, if I want to dance like crazy through the new year tonight, anyone have a recommendation for the best place to do that? I've got about 5 party invites but don't really feel like talking to people. I just want to dance. I also have tickets to First Ave, but I'm looking to see if there's anything else happening as well...

Since the usual NYE warehouse party appears to be non-existant this year, at least on a mass-worth posting on an online forum level, I would sugguest Ground Zero for tonight. 1st Ave is not bad for NYE but if you're looking to dance you won't have too much luck on NYE its usually so packed that you can't dance without stepping on someone's feet and having they're sister yell at you. Also my guess is that GZ is my best chance of hearing some Laibach.

I'd do GZ in a heartbeat, but I didn't think they had anything going on. Is it a big secret? I'd rather that music instead of First Ave anyway.

Oh SHIT!!! Today is a Sunday not Sat!

You're right, I'm not sure if they're going to be open or who's DJing if they are. With my luck, I'd be showing up and they'll either be closed or Dirty duke will be there spinning really bad dance remixes of Tom Jones songs.

So then the question is, if Ground Zero is not open and Station 4 is hosting a hip hop new year's eve party, where will all the fetishists and industrial-loving goths be spending their evening? You can't tell me no one wants to dance.

NYE sucks this year, there really is not much going on.

First Ave is probably the best thing going.

Oh and yes GZ is closed tonight.

you can all come to eau claire with me. cheap booze, and the bars are open all night.

I'll play some laibach in the car.

Well, guess the closest thing to 'scene' related NYE activity for me is putting ICON OF COIL "fond affections" on repeat and drinking until I wake up by myself tomorrow.

so what did you end up doing?

I found myself at a rather good party of mostly Macalister alumni at the home of a friend. the balloons on the ceiling insisted on falling about ten minutes early, so we punted them around for awhile.

80's prom NYE @ the independant saved my evening (they actually played alot of new-wave stuff I grew up on). Hope everyone else found something fun to do. Best wishes to all in the new year.
