Post official website...?
I suppose it's one thing if a band has a page on MySpace. Whatever - all the kids are on MySpace, so it's a good way to get exposure. Maybe someone will put a song on their page, it will generate thousands of plays, and rise through the ranks into the top hundred-thousand. It is a tool for marketing and networking, and there is nothing wrong with using it for that.
However, there is something wrong when it is the band's only presence on the internet. Maybe good musicians aren't great at making web pages. Maybe they can't figure out how to put MP3s onto a page themselves. Maybe they are afraid of people stealing their music, and like that the stand-alone player doesn't allow downloading. Maybe they're a new band that hasn't been around very long, and might not be together much longer. But still? It makes me very sad when a band invites me to visit their only official home on the web... and it's a MySpace page.
Ugh.

yeah

of course, TV's gotten lazy too.

And movies.

Before you know it, you'll only be able to hear from your mother when she updates her blog.

She'll write despairingly about you in her LJ if you don't respond to her posts.

Nothing will have really changed.

Just the mode of communique.

So in a sense, Myspace isn't bad. It's as silly and pretentious to complain abou it as if you were saying that the only real way to share personal info would be with a geocities page, and the only real OS to use was Windows 3.1 .... with opera.

As long as the content is good, who cares about the rest?

Agreed. It's a tool, and it's only as poor as how it gets used.

Just like an Arc Welder.

Great for fusing two pieces of metal together....

But makes a terrible sex toy...

I remember a radio ad on Rev105 that went something like this :
(noisy club sfx)
"Cool music, who is this?!"
"Uhh... Art Swelter! I think they're from Seattle!"

But there is also an official site :
http://www.arcwelderband.com ...joy!

I'm pretty sure there's a good way to use an arc welder as a sextoy.

If nothing else, and arc welder might help you make other sex toys.
Or... furniture. Fixtures.
Anyway.

I've seen circular saws used for toys (SAH-style sparking).
