You forgot pumpkin. I live for pumpkin. I will not vote until you add pumpkin. You bastard.

I can't edit it after voting starts.

After this poll wraps up, I'll create another poll, and the top 3 of each will have a showdown, okay?

You didn't include mince meat either. Damn you.

I guess I have to vote for fucking apple.

You are all complete idiots. Apple is the standard-bearer and flagship for all that is pie. To suggest anything otherwise is completely moronic. Apple pie is excellent with cinnamon, reheats well, and don't even get me started on the ice cream test! It also happens to be awesome with cool whip so don't even go there.

Merengue? Are you kidding me? Some kind of berry? Why not pick one? Blueberry is good but it is far too messy to even be in the same league as apple. Raspberry pie sucks big time. Peach pie is good but no where near as popular as apple. Pumpkin pie is excellent and definitely deserves to be on the list, however it still falls short of apple. And if any of you seriously think mincemeat needs to be on the list then you should be drug out into the street and shot like a dog. Don't waste my time with such nonsense.

Ether has spoken.

Apple would be the basic choice for any neanderthal without experience in varied tastes. However, mince meat is complex and loaded with things both tasty and good for you. While basic apple is fairly sweet on its own, the pie is loaded with sugary sweetness that overwhelms any benefits it may have. Don't be such a ninny.

And blueberries are loaded with more antioxidants than most any other fruit. They have one-of-a-kind taste that begs for a rich pie.

And no one has mentioned rhubarb. Or sweet potato.

Apple? Seriously?! Please. Your taste buds are far too inferior for this conversation.

How about people that don't eat pie? I'll only stomach pumpkin at Thanksgiving. Other than that, nope.

Pumpkin is my favourite, I can live off that stuff.
I also like apple, and french silk... it depends on my mood. Rhubarb pie might be "some other fruit" since it doesn't sound so appealing to say "leaf-stalk pie". Mmmm. Leaf-stalks.

Mincemeat isn't usually real meat, just nuts and fruits and stuff. People don't go for the "sweet sausage" taste so much now that we have refrigeration.

But, what about savory meat pies, like a chicken pot pie, or pasties?
Do those count as pies in the same way a peach pie?

Okay then, how about hair pie? Does that count?

i will never understand why people put ice cream on their pie. i never experienced that growing up until i moved here to minnesota. same with ice cream on cake. yes, i have tried it, but find it repulsive.

i love pumpkin pie as well.

Hair pie? Maybe for you, but most humans can't digest the keratin. I suppose there are options without meat for savory pies, like spinach pie. Maybe a shepherd's pie, just without the sheep in it. Ginger peanut pie.

There is something truly beautiful about Blueberry Pie Ala Mode... and the purple/vanilla mush on the plate (even better in bowl) at the end.

I used to love cherry, but damn some people can make a bad cherry pie.

Pumpkin and Pecan but honestly if pie up and left the planet earth I wouldn't be too sad. I like cookies better than pie. Oatmeal cookies.

It's kind of funny that the hottest threads on Gothling are all food related. I have the feeling that Gluttony might rank high on a Gothling favorite 7 Deadly Sins poll. I know it ranks high for me.

I think it is, most buttery, rich & decedent. Pecan Pie has a dark history too.

Okay, well NOW you're obligated to regale us with horrific tales of wandering groups of nocturnal vampire gypsies who served-up pecan pie to the local townsfolk and then feasted on their blood while they were helplessly paralyzed by sugar&fat comas. Or something.

But brownies still win, and pie loses. So there.

Rather coincidentally, I visited my Grandfather today and presented him with a bottle of Glenfarclas for his eighty-fourth birthday. He, in turn, gave me a strawberry-rhubarb pie he made the night before with ingrediants from his garden.

I just had a piece. It was like heaven.

Oooh, burn!

Nice try but I'm afraid history, popular opinion, and my own superiority invalidate your opinion. If you've only had sugary sweet apple pie, then my contention is you've been eating the wrong apple pies. If you've ever actually had a proper, home-baked, fresh apple pie then you couldn't possibly argue my point.

I will say that hair pie DOES in fact count, if only because it has the word pie in it. Hair pie has many merits to it's credit, but still I think they are too different from those of your food-based pies to warrant a fair comparison. They do have one major thing in common though: both are great with ice cream.
