The basement in my family's house was a haven for centipedes. If you slept down there long enough, you'd get a centipede crawling across your face at some point. And yes, that was just as fun as it sounds.

my dad the professor of entomology taught us to call them "housekeeper's friends" because they predate on worse pests. I'd rather have manyleggers than cockroaches. not that those are common up here anyway.

I know how beneficial they are, but they are still terrifying to me. Its really the only thing that freaks me out.
I have been known to use half a can of raid to kill ONE. Ugh...I just hate them.

I'm much better with spiders. They are never harmed in this house, as they keep every other insect very much in check. Of course, the cats certainly don't mind chasing the spiders.

I hear you there Haakon, in fact when my wife freaks out and sees a bug of any kind I try and catch and release. No sense in harming something that's just doing there job in our world. Although the multi-leggers do give me the hibbie jibbies! Also as a bonus my cat can chase the bugs which gives her hours of delight in the basement!

I hate centipedes. I crushed one on my wall. I went into the kitchen and prepared a bowl of Cookie Crisp cereal and read the comics in the paper. I came back and the bugs legs were still twitching on the wall. Amazing, almost ten minutes later.

A giant centipede tried to eat me yesterday. I didn't have a bat to throw at it so I tipped a garbage can over it and ran away screaming. I really feel badly for the housekeeper when she has to pick that garbage up...
