Post Goodbye Earl
Earl Root, the Minneapolis Metal Scene's most important figure, lost his long-running battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma on Friday, May 23rd.

He devoted his entire life selflessly to Metal and tirelessly worked to promote other acts as well as his own. Earl was best known as guitarist for Aesma Daeva, God-Awful, Disturbed (not the Chicago multi-platinum band, but the original from the Eighties), and much earlier with Morticia, among others. He was the owner of Root Cellar Records and the Root of All Evil independent record label as well as the host of 25-year-running "Root of All Evil" radio show, one of the longest running radio shows in history.

He was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, and he even promoted DTC on the radio show when we started up. I was aware of the survival rate for this disease but, in spite of the odds, I honestly never thought Earl would fall. This one is a tough pill to swallow. The man is going to be missed tremendously.

I never got to know Mr. Root very well, but I had the pleasure of sharing the bill with Aesma Daeva a few times as well as being an audience member for their shows. Even though we weren't close, he always treated me as if i was an old friend.... just an amazing guy.

When I met earl, he seemed very pleased whe I told him "I have never heard anyone say a cross word about you"
Although I never knew him as well as most, I can honestly say that he was a genuinely good person which is a rarilty these days
Especially in the metal community
I feel for you guys

Earl Root was a good guy. He treated everyone with respect and received it in return.
