Post Uhhh... I'm like new ...or something.
What's crappening? Just heard of this site, thought I'd check it out. I'm an
experienced bassist, being playing the local scene for roughly 7 years.
Some of the bands i've played with are Breachless, Death Toll Odometer,
Rivkit, Selfles, and aEstyria. Current musical digs, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle,
Tool, A Perfect Circle, American Head Charge, Candiria, Taproot, Stone Temple
Pilots... So Hello...

Thanks for making me feel welcome, if I was a girl, I'd have about 20 introductions already... My new screen name should be chopped liver. I guess I'll play somewhere else, no one likes me here. Geez I'm not even cool on a computer. I 've already tried football forums and line dancing forums and even tried the Snoop Dogg Fan Club forum. Anyone got any ideas where I can go to be cool... Wait, I'm in a band, I have to be a little bit cool, but then again I am a bassist. Everyone knows the dorkiest member of any band is usually the bassist. But I play guitar too, so that must make me cool...No, oh well atleast you guys arent beating me up, that gets old real fast.

You gave yourself 4 hours before you decided to get all self-pitying. You'll do very well here. Myself, personally, I just have a hard time having a conversation with some calling themselves "PhatMastaJam." Nothing personal.

So I've got no use for a bassist, and I either don't like or have never heard of any of the bands you listed. And you're not goth. But it's okay 'cuz neither are we. So anyway, Welcome To Gothling!

No I'm not goth, I'm not anything, I dont exit. PhatMastaJam is a nickname that was given to me around 5 years ago. I dont take it serious. Besides screennames are just that, there are lots of weird ones and I, guess I could have went with Darkwarlock or something :). I was just trying to be funny, I guess I'm not, I wasnt trying to pity myself or anything. I realized when I wrote it might sound like I was being a dink so I editted it. Well, hello to everyone.

P.S. I havent heard of those bands either...

No offense taken on the Phatmastajam thing if you dont take any about me thinking the same about Johnny Sugar. I think silly is cool but what do I know? Being a bassist I dont have need for one either.

Y'know, it's supposed to be "cool" to like Candiria. And since I am all about the Metal, I own their first two albums. I have to say, I think they are horrible. I don't underswtand why they are so critically acclaimed. Their mix of Hardcore, Death Metal, Jazz fusion and Hip Hop/Rap is a friggin' mess. In spite of the fact that they throw such diverse elements into their music, it isn't very creative and it just doesn't work. And why do we need more rap in Metal? We don't. I dunno, I just don't get this band and I don't think they are very good.

Taproot are just plain terrible. Their music has no redeeming qualities. Have they broken up yet and vanished into thin air? I hope so.

The rest of the bands you listed are just fine by me. You can be cool. Congratulations. And welcome.

I thought much the same about Candiria til I heard the new one. The new album believe it or not, is more settled down. Some older fans hate this album and I can see why they would cuz it was a big step in a different direction. You'd probably dislike it to. As far as Taproot, I get a lot of crap for listening to them.

People have lives, jobs away from the computer, don't check gothling every day, or are away for the holidays?

Welcome, I suppose.

Welcome! I laugh at your screen name because I like it. I am afraid to tell this community that I'm into rap and hip hop in fear of being outcast :).

Don't worry RCD--I pretty much don't know any of the music people are into on this forum. I like trance and techno and everyone hates that here. Plus I like hip hop and R&B. I don't give a shite what music people are into nor would I ever make someone feel like an outcast for liking something I don't particularly like.

Ya, the truth is I like at least something from each genre of music. My first tape was Beastie Boys, Licensed to Ill. I've gotten crap from day one of my music listening preferences. No big deal. It builds character. My real name is Jamal for those that dont like the PhatMasta. Wooorrrrddd to all else.

I like Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A., Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, some Dre and Snoop, and the first two Eminem Albums. That's about the extent of my appreciation for rap. Everything else pretty much blows as far as I'm concerned. But I do like straight hip-hop. Artists like DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Pete Rock, Dee Jay Punk Roc, etc.

A lot of people would be rather surprised by what's in my CD collection, believe me.

Like some Snoop and Dre. I like loops. My drummer does some pretty killer stuff. Check out www.aestyria.com/project , its not an actual website yet, it was a college project so it may take sometime to load, but it will be converted soon and made smoother. It has music on every screen you visit from my band aEstyria. There is something heavy, something light and the rest are beats of various styles. Also you can see who you are talking to provided you have more than a dial up connection. Anybody that wants to look and tell me it sucks, have at it. Its not a full representation, we actually have several songs in the recording phase plus no vocals from the singer due being the newest member but we are working on that.

I would have said hello earlier, but being a girl, i was too busy responding to my near-constant deluge of sexy, sexy PMs here on gothling.

Ethel, I like the attention whore, is she single?
I know self pity was so 2004 that why in 2005 I'm gonna pretend half of everyone likes me and that I have forum capital which I intend to spend.

We all have cd's in our collections that are considered not hip but I have no shame. I can still throwdown with the sickest, heaviest mutha's out there. I can be quite a panzy too, I got nothing to prove...well, I suppose there is that little dispute in Mexico with the goat and the greased frisbee, but after that, I have nothing to prove.

The sickest and heaviest stuff usually isn't metal. Most conventional metal has become rather vanilla over the years.

True, shit, metal has spread all directions, I dont even know what true metal is anymore. Metal is different from metal from the sixties, seventies, eighties, and so on, so what is metal?

What we really need is some industrial remakes of Hall&Oates songs; "Maneater" and "Family Man" in particular.
