Post hey everyone
this looks like a cool gothic community. Its good to be here. I live in Stewartville, Minnesota. I really want to move to Rochester or the Twin Cities when I get out of my parents basement, lol. mackenzie

Rochester has nothing. Our pal rskm1, for instance, drives away from there frequently.

Welcome to the board.

Yeah, Rochester's got nothin'. Except higher taxes than Stewartville. And a Hot Topic store, if that counts for anything (NO. IT DOESN'T.)

If you like the synthpop end of the darksider spectrum, there's a club in Trimont,MN (couple hours west) called "Luminarious" or something. 3-4 hours east there's a pretty cool club in Madison,WI called "Inferno" with several darksidey electronic and/or goth/industrial theme nights.

In Rochester, there's the Aquarius club, which plays one tolerable song per night (usually something by Slipknot, Scooter, or NIN) inbetween hours of the same exact top40 hip-hop drek you'd hear if you punished yourself by listening to 106.9 KROC. So you'll usually end up in the Twin Cities anyway.

If your choices are the Twin Cities or Rochester, choose the Twin Cities. The only advantage of Rochester is that you could save on rent staying in your parents' basement... but that'd kinda defeat the whole purpose eh?

P.S. If I could round up enough Rochesterians to make a convincing argument to the owner of The Ultra Lounge downtown (www.theultralounge.net), maybe we could get something going locally. But I'm not optimistic about those prospects.

Luminarious has cancelled all of it's scheduled electronic acts. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, there are NO live acts booked there any longer.

Welcome to Gothing, Ujika.

What's the preferred pronounciation of "Ujika?" I made a bet with myself. I wanna see if I won.

I like to pronounce it U-jik-a. Ujika is a funny, funny word. Its just a character from one of my really old fantasy stories. He was a necrogod, I know, totally cool for a 13 year old, haha.
