Well, there's his MySpace profile. (Flyer is there.) He's been on today. What's the reasoning Jason? I think everyone here is a little confused to say the least.

Well, jumping to conclusions/jumping all over individuals never got us anywhere before. I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for all this.

The same way this can be explained I'm sure: http://goth.meetup.com/810/messages/boa ... 0#22033590
What kinda upsets me, is that besides the original line-up for this bill, I had posted 2 other events (yes, one including Thos.) and guess what...they're gone!

Only moderators can delete event posts. The original of this with thosquanta was renamed due to the lineup change.

Thanks skywayman, but yeah, I'm talking about the Goth Meetup site where Jason is a mod.

Bella Morte's contract to headline a show was rejected. The written terms differed from the oral agreement. The show was going to be a cancellation announcement. The bill had been scrapped. BM emailed offering to play as a supporting band (at a reduced price) The Gothsicles took 2 days but finally accepted. We chose to fill out the new bill with Amdeide at the advice of our associate Charles from Stellar Vector. I'll certainly update any mention of the previous bill.

Okay. That all makes sense. Except it doesn't mention anything about what happened to Thosquanta's planned appearance.
(And those aren't tears; I just got salt in my eye from all the popcorn flying around)

We chose Amdeide for the new bill. We felt they were a better draw and more in line with our philosophy.

Written terms were sent which differed from the oral agreement. We were at our liberty to reject the offer. That billing was cancelled.

yikes. seriously...."absolutely confirmed" being conditional on "the advice of our associate" is NOT a real good business strategy for music promotion...

I have a hard time believing Amdeide would agree to play the show knowing how Thosquanta was shafted by this whole deal. I mean, it was Thosquanta that brought the Gothsicles into the mix. I dig Amdeide and I would never presume to speak for him but this seems like a pretty shady deal. I won't make judgments on any of the parties involved but this just seems like...well, "an awkward situation" doesn't even begin to do it justice.

Nope. 2 separate shows. BM's agent offered terms differing from the oral agreement.

The original show was cancelled. The Gothsicles agreed to a new show with them as headliner. I know The Gothsicles and asked them personally. I'm not sure they know who Thosquanta is. Never asked. Subsequent billing proceeded from there.

"contractually" my rosy red Irish ass. That doesn't make it right. You asked Thosquanta to play at a venue, on a date. You're backpedaling, and not explaining why.

Okay, well hey Noh - I don't Noh you (sorry for the pun), but from an outsider's standpoint (outsider as opposed to Darksider...aheh) this just...looks...bad. It looks like you booked a band, gave them a confirmation and then pulled the rug out from under them for dubious reasons. I have no vested interest in any of the parties involved. I've never really cared for all the titty-fucking, to be quite honest. But seriously, Thosquanta have a number of local fans who would be interested in attending this show and now attitudes are going to flare and boycots will be declared and it isn't going to be good for anybody. Now, I like Amdeide and I like Thosquanta - I guess the whole "one was better suited for the show over the other" argument just doesn't wash with me and probably won't wash with a number of others. I'm looking for a little more diplomacy and less sidestepping is all.

Rejection of a written contract would hardly constitute "dubious reasons". Beyond that, I did what I thought was best after consulting with my team. I have no interest in "attitudes" and "boycotts". Drama queens are non-preferable to us.

 the summary
So, we have:
1. Show "confirmed" with Bella Morte headlining, with Gothsicles and Thosquanta.
2. Something about the verbal contract isn't okay anymore, show won't happen the way it was originally set.
3. Upon re-negotiation, now Gothsicles are headlining with Bella Morte.
4. ????
5. Outside sources are consulted, and Amdeide is selected as the new opener.
Someone fill in step 4, which must be Adam anally raping Brian, because I'm not seeing how one would just randomly decide, "oh hey, the original opening band we had booked... we're gonna go talk to someone else and take their advice to select a new opening band."
I really think that's all anyone wants spelled out at this point.

The original contract was null and void. The billings were done separately. I am not familiar with the electro genre here. Charles is not an outside source. He's part of our team. I frankly don't know what the interrelationships are here beyond that.

Ok, look, we're not idiots, so please... stop the double-speak.
While the original contract is null and void, that doesn't mean it didn't once exist, even if just as a verbal agreement.
At some point, someone had to say, LET'S NOT USE THOSQUANTA AS WE HAD ORIGINALLY BOOKED, AND INSTEAD BOOK AMDEIDE. The Thosquanta booking did not get magically erased from the annals of time. So upon re-booking of this gig, what prompted the idea of even making a switch?
And no, you do not have to answer that question, although it's damning to let it speak for itself. Just realize that this is not a professional way to handle this situation, and learn from it the next time something like this comes across your desk.

Okay, then Charles can go ahead and answer why Thosquanta was booted in favor of Amdeide. I know Charles. He's not a bullshitter or sidestepper. He'll be willing to address exactly what Thosquanta did to deserve being trampled over in favor of the other band.
Charles?

You're apparently also not familiar with things like common courtesy and respect. Did you bother apologizing? Did you bother offering an explanation? If you're even remotely serious about about booking shows, a few manners will get you a long way.

The second billing was done after consulting with a band I had previously worked with. You don't seem to understand. The first show was dead. I was about to announce a cancellation. I definitely will avoid booking in this genre again. It has been an incredibly stressful few days dealing with agents desperate for a show here.
